Dear Brother/Sister,
Funeral of Sister Jennie Logan – Call for One Minute’s Silence
I am writing to inform you of the funeral of Sister Jennie Logan, which will take place on Saturday, 14 June, in Bicester. As you are aware, Jennie tragically lost her life in the line of duty during a fire incident in Bicester, Oxfordshire, on Thursday, 15 May 2025. Brother Martyn Sadler also lost his life in this incident, along with a member of the public, David Chester.
This devastating incident has profoundly impacted everyone within and associated with the Fire & Rescue Service. In consultation with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, we are calling on all FBU members to hold a visible one-minute silence at their workplaces at 10:00 AM on the day of Jennie’s funeral, Saturday, 14 June.
On that day, Jennie’s funeral procession will commence at 10:00 AM in Bicester, making its way down Queen’s Avenue towards Bicester Fire Station. To honour her memory, Jennie will be carried on the Service Aerial Ladder Platform, with the route lined by firefighters in full kit. In accordance with the family’s wishes, the service requests no standard bearers from other organisations and no floral tributes. Following the procession, Jennie’s service will be by invitation only for family, friends, and colleagues. The General Secretary will represent the FBU at Bicester Fire Station.
As we come together to honour Jennie, let us carry forward her warm spirit and unwavering dedication to our sector and her community.
Yours in solidarity,
Steve Wright
General Secretary
