Dear Brother/Sister
Fatal Incident – Bicester, Oxfordshire – Sister Jennie Logan and Brother Martyn Sadler
It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you of the death of two of our members in the line of duty. Sister Jennie Logan and Brother Martyn Sadler died at a fire incident in Bicester, Oxfordshire, on Thursday 15 May 2025.
Jennie was a member working for the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. She was based at Bicester fire station.
Martyn was attending the incident as a retained firefighter with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, based at Bicester fire station. He was also a full-time firefighter with the London Fire Brigade, based at Ealing station, and had previously served with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
A member of the public, David Chester, also died in the incident.
FBU members across the country will want to join me in sending our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of Jennie and Martyn at this incredibly difficult time.
Two members who attended the same incident are still in hospital. We also send our thoughts to them, and to their loved ones.
We also send our condolences to the loved ones of David Chester.
FBU officials, including myself, attended the scene and have met with members, friends and colleagues. We are liaising closely with the fire and rescue service.
We have taken steps to ensure that assistance is in place for the families of Jennie and Martyn.
The incident will be subject to a full investigation by the FBU.
Further details, including memorial funds and commemoration, will be circulated in due course.
In solidarity,
Steve Wright
