Death of Member: Bro Steve Smith
It is with great sadness we report the death of Brother Steve Smith, a firefighter at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
Steve passed away on the 5th December following a short battle with cancer. He had served as a firefighter for 30 years and was due to retire in February.
Steve was a keen golfer and enjoyed karate, but his passion was his family as a loving dad to Olivia,13, Daniel,10, and as husband to Karen. Steve served across Essex, most recently at blue watch Chelmsford.
Everyone in the FBU sends Steve’s family, friends, and colleagues our condolences, solidarity and support at this very sad time.
FBU officials at local and national level are liaising to ensure all necessary steps are taken to provide support to family and colleagues.
