Merseyside Fire Control – Resolution of Dispute
You will be aware of the dispute between the FBU and the employer in relation to the emergency fire control in Merseyside. This resulted in a vote for strike action by FBU members in the control branch and strike action had been called from 27 December.
Detailed negotiations took place between local officials and the local management team and I am pleased to report that this resulted in a draft settlement document which has been presented to our members in the emergency fire control. The improvements identified resulted in a vote to agree the revised terms.
Therefore, the strike scheduled from 27 December will not proceed and the dispute between the FBU and the employer is settled.
On behalf of the entire union, I congratulate the FBU members in the emergency fire control branch for their solidarity and determination. I also thank the brigade committee and the brigade officials for their vital role in achieving this outcome.
I hope all members can now enjoy the festive period with this matter concluded.
Yours in unity,
Matt Wrack
General Secretary
