Dear Brother/Sister
FBU members vote to accept pay proposal
FBU members across the UK have voted overwhelmingly to accept the revised pay proposal from the employers. The proposal includes:
- A 7% increase in pay and CPD backdated to 1 July 2022.
- A 5% increase in pay and CPD from 1 July 2023.
- Mechanisms for discussion around:
- Retained Duty System firefighters
- Firefighters (Control)
- Pay progression
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) pay
- Future roles
Members returned a 96% vote to accept on a ballot turnout of 84%. Considering the short ballot period of two weeks, this was a resounding decision by FBU members. Our thanks go to all FBU officials for the huge effort put into ensuring members could vote and were fully informed of the revised proposal.
I have now written to the fire service employers to inform them the offer is accepted. We had prepared in advance for both eventualities (either a reject vote or an accept vote) and have taken all possible steps to ensure that members receive the increases from their employer at the earliest opportunity. After all, a pay rise has been overdue since 1 July 2022.
We have also worked to ensure that, if the offer was accepted, the new pay scales will be issued via an NJC circular today.
Yours in unity.
