Retaining fee

Conference recognises the level of commitment that is given by firefighters working the Retained Duty System and that the retaining fee falls short of adequately compensating them for their commitment.

Therefore, Conference would like to remind the Executive Council (EC) of Resolution 7 from Conference 2019, which was supported by the EC.

Resolution 7 ‘Retaining Fee’ was carried. It instructed our negotiators “to make achieving a substantial increase in the current Grey Book retaining fee a priority”.

Conference acknowledges the increased workload experienced during the last two years but notes that it is three years since the resolution carried.

Conference instructs the EC to update Conference on the progress of Resolution 7 2019.

Conference also instructs the EC to formulate a time bound strategy for actioning Resolution 7 2019. The strategy is to be formulated and communicated to the National Retained Committee by the end of September 2022.
