Research into suitability of breathing apparatus (BA) communications

Various resolutions surrounding standards of fireground radios have been discussed over recent years, notably a resolution from Scotland as amended by Shropshire at Conference 2017.

Research by Officials in Lincolnshire has highlighted serious concerns around the suitability of communication equipment used with BA, to a point where the manufacturers of BA communication equipment will only guarantee their products to a temperature of only 60 degrees Celsius.

Conference instructs the Executive Council to continue the research into this area to ensure these vital pieces of equipment are fit for purpose within the hot fire environment and report their findings back prior to Conference 2023.
