Policy text
Conference recognises the recent excellent work by Head Office and other Officials, in particular Brigade Organisers, to develop the new membership database, online application forms and app that can be downloaded by individual Members, creating vital organising tools in the most up-to-date and convenient forms.
Conference also recognises that many organisations, trade unions and political parties have now moved their voting systems to online platforms including the 2019 hybrid consultative ballot on Fire Brigades Union (FBU) Members’ pay and conditions for which the opportunity to vote online was provided, as per Head Office Circular 20190183MW.
Previous Conference policy instructed the Executive Council to; ‘...make the necessary preparations for future online voting, including recommending a definitive list of which Brigade, Regional and Sectional positions will be covered, and to bring any necessary Rule changes to Conference 2020.’
Conference recognises the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on workloads and the delays this has caused to delivering Conference Policy.
Conference therefore instructs the Executive Council to provide feedback on the progress of moving FBU ballots and elections to a secure online platform and set a completion date for moving to online voting for all relevant, identified FBU elections and ballots, no later than Conference 2024.
