Conference recognises the continuous hard work being carried out with the new professional recruitment presentation, online recruitment and the introduction of ‘Phoenix’ the new membership system. New ballot thresholds imposed on trade unions following the implementation of The Trade Union Act 2016 have highlighted that organising has never been so important.

Education goes back to the very roots of trade unionism. It is only through education that we can hope to improve the lot of the working person. The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has an enviable education provision ensuring that our Officials are well prepared to work on behalf of the membership.

To ensure that our Brigade Organisers are enthused, prepared and equipped to make the best possible use of their time, Conference calls for the Executive Council to explore the viability, effectiveness and possible options for an annual organising school, education days or event where the latest and best practice can be learnt and shared. Details of this should then be shared at the earliest opportunity via the FBU structure.
