Conference notes resolution 10, ‘End Pay Disparity’ was remitted to the Executive Council (EC) during Conference 2019, with a view to revamping the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) policy for maternity pay and setting the standard for all Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs).
FRSs are still falling short. FRSs pride themselves on being family friendly, yet maternity pay on the whole does not reflect this. Some FRSs pay 52 weeks full pay, others the statutory minimum. If one can pay, all should pay.
Conference instructs the EC to resume the work to revisit the maternity pay provision within the Grey Book and support our Members in bringing a gold standard for maternity pay and provision across all the FRSs.
