An inclusive union, keeping the T in LGBT

The Fire Brigades Union has a proud history of standing up for equality and diversity and fighting to make Fire and Rescue Services inclusive workplaces.

Conference notes with concern the emergence of some political lobby groups who seek to exclude Trans from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans equality movement.

Some of these lobby groups are growing in influence and are making demands for reform of the Equality Act 2010. The Conservative government has long hated this legislation and reforms by them would water down the protection people with protected characteristics already benefit from.

Conference calls on all Officials and Members to be vigilant of these groups. Our Union is built on inclusion and we will continue to represent all minorities.
