Policy text
Conference recognises the importance of the ADAE Policy. Conference also notes that it is important as a Union we continue to learn, evolve and improve and that transparency and accountability must be at the heart of all that we do.
Conference notes that Section 4 of the appeals section of the ADAE policy states:
‘If, upon the basis of all the evidence before it, the representation appeals committee considers that the regional committee should not have refused or granted representation, it may reverse or amend the decision as it considers appropriate, in its absolute discretion. The decision of the representation appeals committee will be final and shall be conveyed in writing to the parties, the general secretary and the regional secretary’.
Conference notes that it is important that we are accountable and transparent, it is equally important that we learn from our mistakes or we will continue to make them.
Conference therefore demands that section 4 of the appeals section of the ADAE policy be amended to read:
‘If, upon the basis of all the evidence before it, the representation appeals committee considers that the regional committee should not have refused or granted representation, it may reverse or amend the decision as it considers appropriate, in its absolute discretion. The decision of the representation appeals committee will be final and shall be conveyed in writing to the parties. The general secretary, and the regional secretary will also receive a full written report from the representation appeals committee detailing reasons that the decision was reversed or amended, that they may share with their regional committee’
