Composite A
Conference acknowledges the importance of the AIF. Approximately 95% of Members have signed up to it, so it is clear the benefits are widely recognised. It cannot be overstated the impact the AIF has on Members’ lives when they suffer an injury, or to their families in the event of the death of a Member. However, Conference appreciates that there are restrictions within the existing scheme, and consequently room for improvement.
Two specific areas for improvement are;
- Mental illness
- Cancers.
Conference instructs the Executive Council to set up a task and finish group to ensure that the benefits of the AIF are the best that they can be for our Members, that the AIF pays out in the maximum amount of circumstances and that the scheme offers best value for money. The task and finish group shall complete their work before the end of 2022 to allow sufficient time for all Members to be consulted over any proposed changes prior to Conference 2023.
After completion of the review training is to be provided to Officials in the correct application of the AIF.
Conference instructs that the relevant rules shall be amended as necessary once a decision has been taken on any changes to the scheme.
