Redundancies

Conference condemns the issuing of HR1 advanced notice of redundancy forms by six FRAs in the South West which were received on 31st March 2008. Conference demands that any threat of compulsory redundancy is immediately removed by the FRAs in question. Therefore Conference reaffirms and clarifies FBU policy to recall Conference with a recommendation for strike action in the event of any Wholetime FBU member facing redundancy. For the avoidance of doubt, this policy: ● shall apply where the redundancy is to be compulsory; ● shall be invoked at the point where any individual Wholetime FBU member(or group of Wholetime FBU members) are in receipt of formal notice of their individual selection and date for compulsory redundancy. In the event of such notice of compulsory redundancy, the recommendation to Recall Conference shall be for national strike action. This policy shall not apply in circumstances of voluntary severance or early retirement.
