Resolution no: 30
Nominating section: GREATER MANCHESTER
Policy text
Conference welcomes some of the findings contained within the CLG Departmental
Annual Report published on 17 December 2007 which states; ʻSlower response to
fires is a worse serviceʼ. Conference therefore deplores the decision by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and other brigades throughout the UK, not to send a full emergency response to Automatic Fire Alarms unless a back up call is received or the alarm receiving centre can confirm if there are any signs of fire. This decision puts the lives of the public and firefighters in greater danger. Conference therefore instructs the Executive Council to use all means available to them to commence a campaign to reverse this decision.
