Palestine

As contained in previous Conference policies, this Conference reaffirms the Fire Brigades Union commitment to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for self determination, against a succession of Israeli Governments that have disregarded all the United Nations resolutions and continued to violate their most basic human rights. One way of showing practical support is to encourage members to get involved with the local Palestinian support groups that now exist in most towns across the United Kingdom. However, several schools, universities and other organisations have shown support by twinning with a similar organisation within Palestine. Therefore, this Conference asks Branches of the Fire Brigades Union to actively consider twinning with Palestinian Fire Stations, and instructs the Executive Council to facilitate the co-ordination of this support.
