Israel/Palestine Conflict

This Conference reaffirms its commitment to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and condemns the military oppression by the present Israeli Government that is denying the aspirations of the Palestinian people. Yet Conference also recognises that there are progressive elements within Israeli society, both within the working class and trade union movement and political parties who strive for peaceful co-existence with the Palestinian people and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state. Conference believes that we should be engaging with these groups so as to promote an alternative view of the conflict promoted by the American backed Israeli Government and to overcome the stereotypical perceptions of the conflict displayed by members of our own working class and trade union movement.
