Policy text
This Conference notes that positive action is a successful tool for the recruitment of under-represented groups into the UK Fire Service. This Conference also notes that positive action is not always used by Brigades, and where it is used, it is not always consistent in its application.
This Conference demands that the Executive Council produces a set of best
practice guidelines on positive action in consultation with B&EMM and the National Women's Committee. These guidelines would be used to aid Brigade Officials to ensure that positive action is being correctly applied.
This would help to achieve a diverse workforce, which is a true reflection of the
society that we live in.
