The Fire Brigades Union has joined the TOGETHER alliance against the far right.
Join us on 28th March in London.
In an email to all members, general secretary Steve Wright said:
When workers are divided, we lose out.
And in the UK right now, the voices of division are growing louder.
Billionaire media bosses, and the politicians who serve them, want us to turn on each other, all while claiming to speak for working class people.
But there’s only one set of people that speaks for us, and that’s us.
That is why, today, the Fire Brigades Union is joining a new initiative to reject division and racism. And we’re backing a call for a national demonstration on Saturday 28 March.
Together, we’ve built the fire service.
It’s our movement that has fought for decent pay, safety at work and the right to proper time off.
And we know that we have much more in common with each other than we do with the people trying to exploit us – no matter where we’re from, no matter what passport we hold.
Firefighters know all about duty. It’s our duty now to take a stand.
