The Fire Brigades Union’s political fund ballot is now live.
Under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, trade unions cannot spend money on political objectives unless approved by a ballot every 10 years.
Without a political fund, much of the FBU’s work would not be possible. Many of the campaigns we’ve fought — and many of the improvements we have achieved — have only been possible because of the political fund.
The FBU is urging members to vote yes to renew the union’s political fund in the postal ballot.
Ballot papers will arrive at members’ home addresses from 2 April onwards and must be returned by free post in time to be counted on the 29 April.
