Remembering the FBU strikes and Joe Strummer

July 13, 2012

Members will recall that during the FBU’s national pay strikes of 2002-03, a benefit gig for firefighters was held at Acton Town Hall, featuring legendary Clash frontman, the late Joe Strummer, and his backing band The Mescaleros.

November 2012 will see the 10th anniversary of that gig, and FBU members and other Strummer fans have organised a special event to commemorate both the strikes and the gig.

It will take place at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill on 16 November.

A special website promoting the event has been created. FBU members can buy tickets at half price.

To buy tickets, select full price tickets and then put FBU in the discount code box at the checkout.

This will be a very popular gig, and the venue only holds 500 people, so buy tickets early to avoid disappointment.
