These sessions will assist officials in understanding firefighters’ pension schemes.
Participants will explore the guidance and processes involved when dealing with potential ill-health retirements, and learn how to use the guidance effectively when engaging with management during the processes. It will include best practice ways to understand the individual issues in each member’s case, the role of the Independent Qualified Medical Practitioner, and appeals to the Board of Medical Referees.
