hand vote fbu conference

In preparation for Annual Conference, this course has been designed to support delegates who want to develop a better understanding of conference procedures and delegates who would like to be more skilled and confident in their contributions to conference.

Participants will explore conference as the ‘supreme government’ of the union and understand how trade union democratic principles apply to conference.  Following the course, you will be able to identify conference as an annual process, not only as an occasional event.  You will recognise and evaluate it as the key mechanism for democratic accountability in the union.  You will be able to use your knowledge of conference to contribute effectively to the development of union policy and bargaining priorities, and know how the standing orders of conference work and the role of the Standing Orders Committee.

This course will also offer participants the opportunity to access individual support in developing public speaking skills for use in a conference environment, focusing on both content and performance.

Please be aware that priority will be given to delegates attending conference for the first time in 2023.
