Dear Brother/Sister,
Minimum Service Levels (MSLs) – the beginning of the end for this disgraceful legislation
FBU members may have seen reports in the press over the weekend regarding the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act, which is a major threat to the democratic rights of workers, including firefighters.
Cabinet ministers in relevant departments will be contacted later this week, with directions to disregard the MSL provisions.
This is very welcome news. While it is not an abolition of the MSL regulations, which would be preferable, it is nevertheless is a warning to employers not to use these anti-strike, anti-worker measures.
We now look forward to the introduction of the Employment Rights Bill to the Westminster Parliament, which will be the start of the full repeal of this legislation.
Yours in unity,
Matt Wrack
General Secretary
