Dear Brother/Sister,
Fire Brigades Union Political Fund Review Ballot: 91 % Yes vote
The ballot for the continuation of the FBU’s political fund concluded on 29 April 2024 and I am pleased to report that members returned an 91% ‘Yes’ vote on a 23% turnout.
The attacks on our service, our jobs, our pay and pensions have been driven by politicians at local and national level. Our political fund and activity are an essential part of campaigning to resist them. All members are to be congratulated for voting decisively to allowing the union to continue our fight for decent pay and conditions, for investment and for a fire and rescue service that properly protects the communities we serve. It means the union can continue to take our workplace campaigns into the political arena, lobbying and influencing politicians in Westminster, in the devolved governments and in local government.
We have now cleared a major hurdle in continuing to build the campaigning strength of the union.
Yours in unity,
Matt Wrack
General Secretary
