Injury to Feelings Claims (First Wave): Update and next steps
We write to provide you with an update to confirm that your case in relation to the Pensions Litigation concerning Injury to Feelings claims (ITF) arising out of the McCloud judgment, has progressed. Please note the content of this circular is likely to be only of interest to you if you had a claim lodged on your behalf in 2015 and are part of what we describe as the First Wave of claims. You will know whether you have a First Wave claim or not as this will have been made clear to you in correspondence from Thompsons when your case was transferred to them from Walkers Solicitors. Those of you who had claims lodged in subsequent waves will be contacted in due course when there are further developments that concern those proceedings.
If you are a Claimant in the First Wave then next week you will receive a letter from Thompsons Solicitors which will be embedded within a link that will be emailed to you. You may not all receive this letter at the same time so do not worry if you do not get sent it at exactly the same time as another colleague also in the First Wave. However if you have not heard anything in the next 14 days and you know categorically you were in the First Wave of claims submitted in 2015 you should send an email to [email protected] and provide them with your name and date of birth.
Please read the letter you are sent by Thompsons very carefully and follow the instructions that are contained within it. The letter is personal to you and contains confidential information, so we ask that the content of it is not shared over social media. If you have queries about the content of the letter then you can email [email protected] to raise any query with them. However the letter is comprehensive in nature and if you read it carefully it should be clear to you what further steps you need to take.
Finally please note it is a condition of being provided legal assistance that you are a member of the FBU. We are checking all those who receive this correspondence to ensure that is the case.
Therefore if you receive this letter and are not currently in membership and you want to continue to receive legal assistance you need to contact your local official immediately via fbu.org.uk/regions-nations. If you do not do this Thompsons will be instructed to come off record for you as your legal representative without taking any further steps on your behalf.
