Dear Brother/Sister
PAY CLAIM LETTER TO FIRE SERVICE EMPLOYERS
At a meeting on 6 December, the executive Council discussed the issue of pay and agreed to submit a claim letter for pay 2024. This letter is attached. You will note that the letter seeks to build on the two year settlement achieved for 2022 and 2023. Our campaign was able to shift the employer from a starting offer of 2% to the offer finally accepted of 7% and 5%. This shows the value of our unity and of the campaigning work of FBU members across the UK.
We seek to start talks on pay for 2024 as quickly as possible and set out our desire to reach an early settlement so that a pay increase can be delivered for 1 July. You will also be aware of the other strands of discussion or review; pay progression, CPD, retained pay and conditions and control job evaluation.
These strands of work are not yet complete and no report is therefore yet available. Any reports produced will first be sent to the employers and to the FBU to assist discussion at the NJC. Our letter reminds the employers of the need to address these issues.
This is early notification of the start of this process and further information will follow.
In Unity,
Matt Wrack
General Secretary
