Dear Brother/Sister

Merseyside Fire Brigades Union Notification of Strike Ballot Result (Fire Control) and ASOS Ballot Result (all members with the exception of Fire Control)

Following requests from the Merseyside Brigade Committee to the Executive Council to ballot Merseyside Fire Control members for strike action and to ballot all Merseyside members (with the exception of Fire Control) for action short of strike consisting of not undertaking pre-arranged overtime, ballots of Merseyside members commenced on 24 July and closed at 2pm on 21 August 2023.

Fire Control Strike Ballot

The Fire Control strike ballot result was as follows:

  • The number of individuals entitled to vote was 25
  • The number of votes cast in the ballot was 23
  • The number of individuals answering “yes” to the question was 23
  • The number of individuals answering “no” to the question was 0

The number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned was 0

The percentage of those voting who voted YES is 100%

I therefore confirm the number of votes cast in the ballot was at least 50% of the number of individuals entitled to vote in the ballot.

I further confirm the number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.

All Members (with the exception of Fire Control) ASOS Ballot

The ballot result was as follows:

  • The number of individuals entitled to vote was 541
  • The number of votes cast in the ballot was 384
  • The number of individuals answering “yes” to the question was 315
  • The number of individuals answering “no” to the question was 69
  • The number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned was 0

The percentage of those voting who voted YES is 82%

I therefore confirm the number of votes cast in the ballot was at least 50% of the number of individuals entitled to vote in the ballot.

I further confirm the number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.

Merseyside members will be shortly notified of proposed industrial action which will not commence before 4 September 2023.
