Response to HMICFRS (England)

You will be aware of the recent publication of the latest State of Fire report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) authored by the Chief Inspector, Sir Thomas Winsor. Regrettably, once again, the report includes criticism of, and attacks on, the right of firefighters to bargain over their terms and conditions at work. It includes the suggestion by the Chief Inspector that the government should consider removing democratic rights from firefighters, including the right to take strike action. These conclusions have been reached without being based on evidence and rather appear to reflect the personal and political views of the author of the report.
