CPD and Pensions - Threats made by some Principal Management Teams

It has come to our attention that some FRSs have attempted to intimidate members by saying, whether in writing or verbally, that taking part in strike action will result in an immediate stoppage of CPD payments, and/or will create a break in continuity of service, and/or make members ineligible for continued membership of the FPS.

Aside from revealing the spiteful character of the FRS management teams that engage in such activity, (and the inability of the parent FRA to control their principal managers), the dissemination of this false information illustrates the ineptitude of the Chief Fire Officers who are ultimately responsible for the content of communications to personnel.

For the avoidance of doubt, these threats are groundless.  Attached to this circular is a letter containing the advice received by the FBU from Thompsons solicitors on these matters.
